Worcester Division Division 2 coach D Set Leamington, Stratford & Worcester Set 2 - Two Coaches
models of the GWR diagram E140 60' brake composite coaches,
close-coupled at the compartment ends supplied as a pair. Allocated to
Leamington-Stratford-Worcester services the 2-coach sets in the
Birmingham and Worcester divisions were allocated letter D rather than
the letter B used by the Bristol and West Country divisions. These
2-coach sets could form an entire train on their own, or be coupled
together when more capacity was required. Ideal for use with Lionheart
Trains 45xx small prairie and 64/74xx class pannier tank engines and the
newly announced Heljan 5101 class large prairie.
Supplied as a complete set of 2 coaches painted in GWR chocolate and cream livery with city crests.
The 2-coach 'B set' is familiar to modellers of the GWR, these sets being the standard trains on many of the scenic West Country branchlines.
However each division of the GWR defined it's train formation requirements. While Bristol and West Country B sets were 2-coach trains in the Birmingham area suburban services demanded a longer formation, letter B was used for 4 coach sets, the 2-coach trains for the adjoining and more rural Worcester division were given letter D.
