The most spectacular event of the 20th century took place on 20th July 1969 - the First Man on the Moon. An old dream of mankind came true when after a dramatic 4-day voyage the 3-man crew of the Apollo 11 mission embarked on this historic moment. While the astronaut Michael Collins orbited round the moon aboard the command capsule, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin landed the lunar module "Eagle" on the moon. Equipped with a portable life support system in a backpack and a special space suit, Neil Armstrong climbed down the steps of the ladder and was the first man to walk on the moon. His claim: "This is just one small step for a man, but a great leap forward for mankind" was famed through the world. Together with "Buzz" Aldrin, Armstrong later planted the American flag on the moon, set up scientific apparatus and collected moon rock. The ILC Apollo space suit provides a comfortable atmosphere, is very flexible and allows almost complete freedom of movement. After 2« hours on the moon, the two astronauts climbed back into the lunar module and the next morning they docked with the command capsule
