To use these mounting plates first cut a slot through the board where the point motor pin will pass through to connect with the point operating bar. This is best done after the track is laid in it's final position, but do not fix the point. The fishplates can be slid back to temporarily remove the point for the hole to be drilled in the correct place.
Next fix the motor to the plate and then fit the motor drive pin up through the hole to engage with the point operating bar. Roughly position the plate so that the motor will correctly drive the point fully from side to side, then loosely attach the plate with the screws. Two holes are elongated to allow for further adjustment, so these would be best to use initially.
Gently tighten the screws to hold the plate in place and double check that the point and motor are working correctly. Adjust by slackening the screws and shifting the plate slightly until all is well. Once you are satisfied that the assembly is positioned correctly secure the plate with the remaining fixed screw holes, fully tightening all the screws.
We recommend using track pins to firmly secure the point in place as well, ensuring that neither point or motor can change position due, for example, to heat expansion in the track.
