Pre-Dreadnought Era
WW1 and Russo-Japanese War. The leap forward in firepower and speed of HMS Dreadnought marked a new epoche in naval warfare, all older ships now being considered as from the 'pre-Dreadnought' era. We have battleships, cruisers, torpedo boats and torpedo boat destroyers from the turn of the 19th/20th century, marking the transition from sedate steam-assisted sailing to steam turbine powered warships. A large number of these ships served into WW1.
