This Hornby Dublo diecast Flying Scotsman 100 years model features the locomotive as it would have appeared at the time it entered LNER service in 1923. Carrying the number 1472 the locomotive is finished in a beautiful gloss apple green paint which gives the diecast boiler a finish close to that that could have been seen on the full size locomotive. The model is powered by a strong 5 pole motor and features cab detailing including crew figures

The most famous of the A4 locomotives is surely 4468 Mallard, the locomotive that broke and still holds the world record for the highest speed achieved by a steam locomotive. This record was achieved at the height of the streamlined battle between Gresley's A4 and the Streamline Coronation of Stanier's LMS. Mallard would go onto serve under BR as 60022 before being withdrawn in early 1963 having been earmarked for preservation as early as 1960, its historical significance recognised and understood.

The Hornby Class A4 is fitted with a five pole motor, as well as the new for the class flickering firebox feature and a new for 2023 locomotive to tender connection.

In 2023, the Hornby Dublo Deltic model fills a hole in Hornby history, with the DP1 Deltic featuring on the cover of the 2nd edition catalogue in 1960, but never actually being made in physical form unlike the Class 55 Deltic, which did receive a Hornby Dublo incarnation. This model is fitted with a diecast body, 21 pin DCC decoder socket for digital operation, a 5 pole motor with dual flywheels and dual bogie drive. This is surely, not a Dublo model to be missed.
Please note that this model is non-sound. Hornby advise the 2023 catalogue information is intended to show that a HM7000 bluetooth controlled sound decoder will be available for this model. The factory fitted sound model is R30297TXS.
