Developed from the class 44 design these later locomotives remained in service until the 1980s, hauling express passenger trains on secondary and cross-country routes.

The Bachmann model features a detailed bodyshell, carefully researched to capture the look and appearance of the locomotives. Bachmanns' drive mechanism features a heavy diecast chassis, ideal for hauling heavy goods trains, and a central motor driving both bogies.

Nicely detailed model of EWS class 66 diesel locomotive 66117 painted in the current DB Cargo red livery.
The Bachmann model features a wealth of fine detailing allied to a die-cast metal chassis and central mounted motor driving both bogies, providing excellent performance.
Following the purchase of EWS by German rail freight conglomerate DB Schenker the former EWS locomotive fleet is being slowly repainted into the DB red scheme. A number of wagons have appeared in this scheme recently.

The engine was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia for the British government to haul trains on the trench tramway lines supplying the front line. Many were sold for further use after the end of the war.

The Glyn Valley Tramway purchased Baldwin 4-6-0 locomotive works number 45211 (built 1917) in 1921 to allow the lines Beyer Peacock tram engines to be sent away for extensive overhauls. The ex-WD engine was itself extensively rebuilt with a fully enclosed cab and finished in lined black livery.

DCC and sound fitted OO9 narrow gauge model of WW1WD/ROD Baldwin 4-6-0T narrow gauge locomotives finished as Snailbeach District Railway number 4.
The Snailbeach line was built to haul lead ore from the Shropshire Hills to a terminal along the GWR Minsterley branch line. Two war-surplus Baldwin 4-6-0 engines were purchased in 1923, number 4 being Baldwin 44522 built in 1917.
