The German motorcycle of the BMW concern - R12 - was produced from 1935 to 1942. During this period, more than 36,000 BMW R-12s were built in military and civilian versions. The sports version of the R-12 set a speed record of 279.5 km / h, which lasted as long as 14 years! Due to its high reliability at a significantly lower price compared to special army BMW R-75 and KS-750 motorcycles, the BMW R-12 became the most popular motorcycle in the German army.
Ammunition and hot food were delivered to the R-12, evacuated to the rear of the wounded, delivered reports, sent to reconnaissance: it is difficult to list all the army specialties of this machine. In addition, the BMW R-12 was massively used as a military weapon in special motorcycle units, where a machine gun was mounted on the stroller.
