Granado was one of twelve bomb vessels built for the Royal Navy to supplement the fleet at the outbreak of the War of Jenkin's Ear (1739). Originally a sloop by Thomas Slade, who went on to design Victory, she was converted to a bomb vessel in 1765 to accommodate heavy mortars that had a tremendous recoil, performing the duties admirably. The kit is based on the original Admiralty plans that still exist.
The kit includes laser cut frames for keel & bulkheads, and exotic wood strip for hull planking. Also included is the wooden deck planking, masts and spars, metal and wooden fittings and photo-etch detailing parts. The instruction booklet is very detailed, covering each step of construction.
