Oxford's Royal Mail
version, registered AXL 938, comprises a black bike with contrasting
beige saddlebags on either side of the rear wheel. The sidecar is
decorated in Royal Mail’s signature red, with the words Royal Mail
printed in contrasting black on the offside. Additional printing on the
side sees the Royal GR crest in gold and vehicle identity MCC No. 2033,
Post Office Harrow & Wembley in black. In its time, the motorbike
and sidecar would have been a speedy method of delivering urgent items
of mail and probably much niftier than a van, particularly in urban
areas.
