Offering two different forms of communication these are the designs of the essential and iconic British fixtures seen around towns and cities since the 1930s. Telephone kiosks and post collection boxes were often placed near places where people congregated during their daily lives, railway station forecourts were an obvious choice. A telephone kiosk was often placed close to the station entrance for arriving passengers to contact friends or call for a taxi. Many local postman would also end their round at the railway station, forwarding and receiving mail by train.
