The Southern Railway 4-wheel parcels vans survived until the early 1980s, many receiving BR rail blue paint during overhauls.
Though many of these vans had by then been reduced to departmental duties some were still listed in the revenue service fleet and the departmental vans were often used for distributing BR stores through the network of daily parcels trains.
