Colonia 1/1250 Col25 SS Ballarat (1923) P&O liner
A 1/1250 scale second-hand model of P&O liner SS Ballarat of 1923 by Colonia Col25. This model is in excellent condition having been completely re-fitted with new masts and having been re-painted as required, see photograph.
Ballarat was built for the service from UK to Australia & New Zealand via Capetown and entered service with 4 sister-ships in 1923. The route was discontinued in 1926 and the ships were transferred to a new route via Egypt and the Suez Canal. Some of the ships were converted to oil firing and continued until 1936 but two were scrapped in 1929. The last two were sold to the Government as troop ships but were sold again for scrapping almost immediately and they had all gone before WW2 broke out.
