7818 – ‘Granville Manor '

  • GWR - Great Western Railway - Plain Green with G-Crest-W on Tender
  • Original Chimney
  • Riveted Tender Body
  • Narrow hornplates
Completed in January 1939 7818 Granville Manor was sent new to Worcester shed which was a main GWR division shed. The G (crests) W lettering suggests 7818 was regarded as an express passenger engine, so quite likely was working secondary express services over the Oxford-Worcester-Wolverhampton route and towards Shrewsbury for the Cambrian section.
Following nationalisation the engine moved to Wolverhampton Oxley shed in July 1952, then Birmingham Tyseley from March 1953. After a half year at Newton Abbot 7814 joined the manor fleet on the Cambrian section at Machynlleth from January 1960 and was withdrawn there in January 1965.
