For the 2009 season the current C Class DTM generation went through nine
months development in order to thoroughly review it in the minutest
detail. As the regulations that came into force in August 2009 only
permitted DTM cars to undergo detail modifications, for the 2011 season
AMG Mercedes concentrated on dynamic aspects and the optimisation of the
engine, which is shown in the model under a removable bonnet. Bruno
Spengler, born 1983, has been driving a Mercedes in the DTM since 2005.
In 2006 he took the title of runner-up in splendid style and in 2007 he
defendedit as the most successful HWA pilot. In the 2011 season the
Canadian finished as best Mercedes driver ranked 3 with a total of 51
points.
