Corgi 1/43 VA14002B Opel Omega 3000 GSI, Carmine Red, LHD, German Registration

The Carlton GSI was launched in the spring of 1986 and defined a new market for large but sporty executive saloons aimed at keen drivers. All GSIs initially came equipped with a manual gearbox, limited-slip differential, ABS, Recaro-style seats, and an aggressive body kit which gave the GSI a slippery CD of just 0.30. Alloy wheels shod with 205/65 VR15 uni-directional tyres, stiffer lower suspension and a tactile leather steering-wheel also added to the car’s driver-appeal. Most potential buyers were hooked on the test drive by the sonorous straight-six exhaust note but the car’s bargain price of £16,999 made it the desirable performance bargain of its era.
