With the Imp failing to sell and Linwood Haemorrhaging money, Rootes
needed a simple, popular and most importantly profitable new product to
sit below the successful Hunter. Thus the Avenger came into being and
was launched in February 1970.By the time it was discontinued in 1981 it
was known as the Talbot Avenger.
