Navis Neptun 126N HMS Invincible, the first Battlecruiser ever 1/1250
A second-hand 1/1250 scale metal model of HMS Invincible, the first battlecruiser. Completed not long after Dreadnought, before the Bellerophon class entered service, Invincible was used to test electric control of guns and turrets. She was later refitted with hydraulic control but the forefunnel was not raised until 1916 to conform with her sisters.
This second-hand model is missing topmasts.
This model represents the Invincible at Jutland and Inflexible and Indomitable from 1914-17. Admiral Hood's flagship, Invincible, made the best shooting at Jutland of all the capital ships until her magazines exploded and she split in two and sank. Both the bow and the stern sections remained visible above water for the rest of the day. Almost all the crew were killed.
