Navis Neptun 1/1250 127 HMS Hood, as built, 1922
HMS Hood was the lead ship of a class of 4 battlecruisers. After the Battle of Jutland, Hood was re-designed to include more armour but the result was not entirely satisfactory and design work continued on the three sisters. At the end of WW1, the sisterships were cancelled and plans were prepared for the G3 Battlecruisers (see Neptun 1108) but they too were cancelled following the 1922 Washington Treaty. Hood remained the sole example and the last British battlecruiser to be built.
Hood had a re-fit in early 1941, when the secondary armament was replaced (see Neptun 1110) but shortly afterwards she was sunk in the action with Bismarck and Prinz Eugen.
