Reproduction of a ketch strengthened by the British for Arctic exploration which also had the ability to withstand the pressures of large mounted mortars and were referred to as bomb vessels, the Racehorse together with similar vessels was used during wars with Russia. Nelson served as midshipman on a similar ship to this model.

Third ship of Columbus' expedition, Pinta was a square sails caravel. The sails consisted of a square foresail and great mainsail, while the mizzenmast, supported a long yard for lateen triangular sail. It had a poop quarterdeck and, unlike the sister-ship Nina, also forecastle. The Pinta was the fastest of the three ships, confirming the logbooks, which indicated that this caravel was during the voyage often ahead of the two other ships.

Mantua/Sergal 1/50 Nina Christopher Columbus's Caravel 756
The Nima (the Spanish word for "little girl") was one of the three ships used by Christopher Columbus in his first voyage towards the Indies in 1492. The real name of the Nina was Santa Clara. The name Nina was probably a pun on the name of her owner, Juan Nino. She was a caravel-type vessel. The other ships of the Columbus expedition were the caravel Pinta and the Carrack-type Santa Maria. The Nina was by far Columbus' favorite. She was originally lateen sail rigged caravela latina, but she was re-rigged as caravela redonda at Azores with square sails for better ocean performance. There is no authentic documentation on the specifics of the Nina's design. Often said to have had three masts, there is some evidence she may have had four masts.

This ship was originally built as a collier in Whitby and was bought and refitted by the Royal Navy in 1768. The works included the addition of a further deck to provide cabin accommodation. She was then re-launched under her new name "Endeavour" and went on to become famous as Captain Cook's ship in his scientific journey's of discovery.

Mantua/Sergal 1/98 HMS Victory Nelson's flagship in 1805 Kit 776
This kit makes up into a fine model of the flagship to Admiral Lord Nelson during the battle of Trafalgar on 21st October 1805 and is the most famous of the great British fighting ships. She can be visited at Portsmouth dockyard where she is preserved for posterity.

Originally privately built and launched as the Bethia, she was sold to the Royal Navy and was renamed Bounty when first commissioned. When she sailed out of Bristol in the winter of 1787, her commander William Bligh was 33 years old and together with Fletcher Christian was destined to become the two main characters in the famous mutiny on 28th. April 1789.
