These 3F 0-6-0 side tank engines were the LMS standard heavy shunting engines. The design was developed from older Midland Railway shunting locomotives and, like many similar steam shunting engines, the 3F proved quite capable at hauling branch passenger trains, local 'pick-up' goods trains and some were ;built for suburban passenger service.
Locomotive 7341 is modelled in the LMS plain black livery, the livery used by the LMS company on all goods, shunting and secondary passenger locomotives. The Bachmann model features a detailed bodyshell with many separately fitted parts. Inside is a powerful motor geared to provide good slow-running performance for smooth, realistic shunting.
