The London, Brighton and South Coast Railway E4 Class 0-6-2T is side tank engine with six coupled driving wheels and a carrying axle under the bunker, allowing for extra coal to be carried. Designed by Robert J Billinton 75 locomotives of the class were built between 1897 and 1903, working local passenger, freight and branchline trains for over 50 years with the LB&SC, Southern and British Railways. One example is preserved on the Bluebell Railway.

Tank engines have always been the workhorses of the British railway network, from shunting wagons to hauling local goods and passenger trains on mainĀ and branch lines. This model is a very welcome addition to the fleet of Southern locomotives, especially following the SECR C class 0-6-0 released by Bachman in 2012.

This model of BR number 32494 carries the early British Railways lined black livery with lion over wheel emblem. Due to their extensive use on commuter and mainline stopping passenger services in the early BR period most of the E4s received this lined livery. This model also has a slightly different lining style to the late crest model previously release.

Era 4 1948-1956.
