A highly detailed model of the GWR 8750 type panniers built from 1933, part of the 57xx class of 863 engines being built between 1929 and 1950. The 57xx became the mainstay of the GWRs small tank engine fleet for shunting, station pilot, pickup goods and branch line service.
Model finished as 9659, a locomotive completed in 1946 and finished in the Hawksworth era livery with letters GWR on the tank sides. The engine was fitted with a smokebox numberplate after 1948, though carried the GWR livery for many years. It is believed this engine did not receive the early British Railways emblem, going from GWR to the later British Railways crest sometime after 1956.
