A detailed model of a RCH 1923 pattern 7 plank open wagon finihsed in the livery of Webb Brothers Ltd, coal factors based in Cheltenham.
Coal factors purchased coal in bulk direct from collieries, usually contracting for a regular monthly tonnage at lower then normal rates. The coal factor then made this coal available to local merchants, allowing small merchants to obtain single wagonloads of coal when required and thereby offer a larger range of coals to their customers. Coal factors often had a significant fleet of wagons to allow coal to be stored ready for rapid fulfilment of orders.
