Transvaal Castle was transferred to Safmarine from Union Castle Line when she was just 4 years old in 1966 and re-painted in the colours shown on this model. She was used on the South Africa mail run until 1977. She was a smaller version of Windsor Castle but was designed from the outset as a one-class ship. She became a cruise ship under various names (Festivale, Island Breeze, Big Red Boat III & The Big Red Boat III) until sent for scrapping at Alang in 2003.
