The German Tiger I Late Version heavy tanks were produced from January of 1944 and showed their awesome dominance against the Allies in Normandy. Tamiya's high-quality 1/35 scale model depicts this variant of the Tiger in full detail, complete with a set of 4 crew figures in realistic relaxed poses. A variety of markings are included to depict various tanks, including one belonging to the famous Tiger Ace Michael Wittmann.

One of the greatest threats to the Allied armour during WWII was the powerful German Tiger I tank. It was thought that one Tiger tank had an offensive power equal to that of five Sherman tanks. The tank weighed 57 tons, had a 100mm thick frontal armor, and featured a powerful 56 calibre 88mm gun which could penetrate 100mm armour at a distance of 2,000m. Its performance allowed many tank commanders, such as Michael Wittmann, to attain "ace" status. Production began from July 1942 and over 1,300 units were produced overall, and the late production models featured improvements including a more powerful engine, periscope on the cupola, and pressed-steel road wheels.
