Revell 1/72 Battle of Britain Gift Set 05711
The legendary Battle of Britain represented a crucial turning point in German expansionist tendencies during World War II. To prepare for the invasion, in the summer months of 1940, the Luftwaffe launched massive attacks on British towns and RAF stations. Over 1000 bombers and over 1000 fighters were used. In this sole defensive battle of Britain they were opposed by only 700 Spitfires and Hurricanes that were flown by young and inexperienced pilots. Finally in the autumn of 1940, after ceaseless missions round the clock, the RAF succeeded in inflicting decisive losses on the Luftwaffe, mainly due to the superior flying characteristics of the Spitfire.
This new Revell gift set shows the range of typical operational aircraft used inthe Battle of Britain consisting of the Do 17, Ju 87 Stuka, Spitfire Mk.1 and Vickers Wellington.
